Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli
On arrival at JKIA, you are met by our driver/guide for the drive down to Amboseli National Park, located to the south east of Nairobi. The Park is famous for its big game and scenic beauty with the landscape dominated by Mt. Kilimanjaro. It offers an interesting contrast in appearance with its dry and dusty appearance, which can be attributed to the volcanic ash that came out of Mt Kilimanjaro when it last erupted. In spite of the appearance, there is a continuous supply of water that gets filtered through volcanic rocks from Kilimanjaro's melted snow. These streams flow underground, creating lush green areas, and converge at two clear water springs in the park. All meals and overnight at the Amboseli Serena Lodge or similar.
Day 2: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru
After breakfast morning drive via Nairobi and down the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park, a protected game sanctuary for endangered species such as the Black/ White rhino, Rothschild Giraffe among other usual game such as the leopard and Lion. The park is world-renowned for its millions of pink Flamingoes found around the lake. Lunch at the Lodge followed by an afternoon game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar .
Day 3: Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara
This morning, travel to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, so named to mean the “spotted plains” in Maa language. This is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is the northern extension to the vast Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for its annual migration of wildebeest. This is a spectacular place of breathtaking sceneries, never-ending plains and the most abundant variety of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world. The landscape is made up of rolling savannahs dotted with patchy shrubs and bush thickets. All meals and overnight at the Mara Serena Lodge or similar.
Day 4: Masai Mara
A further day in the Mara to spend on morning and afternoon game drives or a full day game drive with picnic lunches. During game drives, you have a chance to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephant, giraffe, prides of lion, and thousands of impala, topi, grants and Thomson's gazelle. The Mara is the scene of annual migration of millions of wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses. All meals and overnight Mara Serena Lodge or similar.
Day 5: Maasai Mara / Serengeti
Early breakfast at the Lodge and depart for the drive to the Kenya/Tanzania boarder of Isebania for a change of vehicles as you cross over. Drive with picnic lunches to one of Africa's most famous parks - The Serengeti. En route to the lodge you have a chance to go for a game drive which brings you into the heart of the Serengeti's "endless plains". Be on the lookout for prides of lions as this is one of the best places on the continent to see them! Dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge or similar
Day 6: Serengeti
After breakfast at the lodge, explore Serengeti’s 5,600 sq. miles for a chance to see cheetah, giraffe, lion, leopard, elephant - the list is endless. Each year it is the scene of the great migration where millions of wildebeest and zebra make their annual trek in search of fresh grass. Serengeti National Park is the Africa most of us have seen on television. Many National Geographic specials have been filmed here. Now we can see first hand why so many naturalists and photographers are drawn to this place. All meals and overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 7: Serengeti / Ngorongoro
After breakfast, depart for the drive to Ngorongoro Conservation area via Olduvai Gorge, where famed archaeologists Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of the earliest known man, believed to be about 1.8 million years old. You will have plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing en route to your accommodation in Ngorongoro with picnic lunch to arrive in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge or similar.
Day 8: Ngorongoro
Depart after breakfast for a half day game drive on the Crater floor to experience the Africa of bygone days when you explore the "lost world" of Ngorongoro Crater. Within the walls of the crater lie short grasslands, swamps, forests and a freshwater lake, inspiring continual migration of animals. You will have an opportunity to spot the "big five" - buffalo, elephant, leopard, the black maned lion and the endangered, rare black rhinoceros - as well as zebra, wildebeest and gazelles. The crater has long been regarded as the original "Garden of Eden;" and is sure to be a memorable highlight of your visit to this extraordinary region! Day 9: Ngorongoro / Lake Manyara
After breakfast, set out for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park arriving in time for lunch at the Manyara Serena Lodge. Later in the afternoon depart for a game viewing drive through the Park’s Mahogany forest; marsh, grass and scrubland, which are home to over 350 species of birds that populate this magnificent tangle of vegetation. The park is famous for the tree-climbing lions that inhabit its forests. Return at sunset for dinner and overnight at the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge or similar.
Day 10: Lake Manyara / Arusha / Zanzibar
After breakfast, depart for the drive back to Arusha where on arrival you are transferred for lunch on own account and later taken to the Airport for your schedule flight to Zanzibar.
